Let Summer Linger: Finding Wonder in the Weeks We Have Left
Summer has a way of slipping right through our hands.
At the beginning, it feels wide open. The calendar stretches ahead with possibility, and we imagine slow mornings, spontaneous adventures, and plenty of time to do all the things we have been saving for “when summer gets here.”
Then the days begin stacking themselves on top of one another.
Add in an emergency appendectomy for my darling daughter, a waterfall in the kitchen courtesy of ridiculous Pittsburgh weather, and a few other unexpected surprises, and suddenly I am looking at a summer calendar that is already halfway over.
I could let that realization send me into a frantic attempt to squeeze everything into the weeks we have left.
Instead, I am choosing something different.
I am taking Kelly’s new Wonder Club digital collection and giving myself permission to slow down, savor the rest of these summer weeks, and notice the small things before they disappear into the blur.
Because this collection feels made for exactly that.
Welcome to the Wonder Club
If you know me at all, you know I am a sucker for vintage, quirky, slightly faded treasures, and Kelly’s newest collection rings every bell.
Paper dolls and photo booths. Viewfinders and wagon rides. Old cameras, butterflies, field notes, pennants, tiny tickets, Polaroid frames, and all the charming bits that feel as though they were rescued from a forgotten drawer.
My vintage-loving heart can barely contain itself.
The collection includes 25 letter-size printable sheets and nine PNG files filled with patterned papers, florals, journaling cards, pockets, tickets, badges, pennants, and nostalgic illustrations.
There are prompts for recording what you are currently loving, what made you smile, what felt magical, and what is worth remembering. Tucked among them are little invitations:
Look closer.
Enjoy the view.
Admit One to something wonderful.
Today’s ordinary is tomorrow’s nostalgia.
That last one feels especially meaningful to me right now.
The Ordinary Things We Will Miss Someday
So much of summer’s goodness does not announce itself as important.
It looks like wet swimsuits draped over the railing, a cold drink sweating onto the table, flowers you almost forgot to water, a child laughing from another room, or the same song playing in the car again.
We rarely recognize these moments as memories while we are living them. They seem too ordinary, unfinished, or small.
But ordinary life is where nostalgia begins.
That is what I love about Wonder Club. It does not ask us to document only the grand adventures. It invites us to become observers of our own lives.
The “Currently Loving” cards and checklist-style prompts help capture the little details that might otherwise disappear: what made us smile, what felt magical, and what was worth keeping.
Nothing complicated. Nothing demanding something profound.
Just an invitation to pay attention.
Wonder Club in the Wild
One of my favorite parts of a new Kelly Bangs collection is seeing how differently each Maker brings it to life.
Sherri Brophy (@sherriluvsles) transformed Wonder Club into richly layered journals filled with pockets, tags, florals, tickets, and tiny travel details. Her projects feel like vintage suitcases opened after a long adventure, with another discovery hidden inside every flap and fold.
Cristin Howell (@plyswthscissors) created a playful accordion journal that leans fully into the collection’s nostalgic charm, layering photo booths, paper dolls, florals, film strips, butterflies, and quirky patterned papers.
Rochi Villegas (@rochicreates) took the collection in an entirely different direction with an incredible interactive pop-up card. I am amazed by her ingenuity. The layers open and unfold to reveal photos, patterns, and hidden details, turning the collection into a tiny paper experience. Even better, she generously shared instructions for creating it on her Instagram.
And Krystal Roberts (@allthethings.fun) showed how beautifully the smaller pieces work in an everyday notebook. Her pages leave plenty of room for writing while still telling tiny stories through maps, butterflies, flowers, cameras, Viewmaster pieces, tickets, and those irresistible “Currently Loving” cards.
Seeing these projects together makes me love Wonder Club even more. It can become an interactive card, travel journal, memory keeper, layered art book, or simply a few beautiful pieces added to an ordinary notebook page.
There is no single right way to preserve a season.
You just begin with something worth noticing.
My Plan for the Rest of Summer
I am not creating an enormous summer album or adding another elaborate project to my already-full calendar.
That would defeat the point.
Instead, I am keeping a few Wonder Club pages printed and ready near my journal. When something feels worth remembering, I can add a Polaroid frame, tuck in a ticket, fill out a “Currently Loving” card, or glue down one of those gloriously nostalgic butterflies.
Maybe I will document a favorite meal, save a receipt from an ordinary afternoon, or write down something Angelina says that I know I will want to remember.
Maybe I will create a page about the strange summer when plans changed, the kitchen briefly became an indoor water feature, and life once again refused to cooperate with the calendar.
I do not need to catch every moment.
I just want to notice a few of them while they are still here.
An Invitation to Wonder
The Wonder Club collection feels like permission to become curious again.
To look closer.
To collect the little bits.
To treat everyday life as something worthy of remembering.
There is still summer left. There are still flowers blooming, evenings stretching out, unexpected adventures waiting, and ordinary moments quietly becoming tomorrow’s nostalgia.
So instead of racing to make up for lost time, I am joining the Wonder Club.
I am slowing down.
I am paying attention.
And I am letting the rest of summer linger.
