Roadside Daisies & an End of Summer Reset
Is it just me, or does the end of summer feel like slamming on the brakes after flooring it for three straight months? Between the camps cookouts and crazy schedules, I’ve hit burn-out city and could use a little mental roadtrip - with Jesus in the driver’s seat. That’s why I love Kelly Bangs’ newest collection for Illustrated Faith, Roadside Daisies. It’s got major retro road trip vibes with an extra side of soul care. It’s one of those kits that will inspire you to grab your Bible and journal, toss your art supplies in the car, throw some I heart the ‘60s station on the radio and start driving. Let Jesus do the talking; just quiet your mind and listen. My favorite piece? A luggage tag that unashamedly states, “I’ve got baggage and Jesus has claimed me.” If that’s not Matthew 28:20 in action - “I am with you always” - I don’t know what is.
Roadside Daisies brings all the groovy, retro charm — think 60s-style road signs, colorful cars, map pieces and the cutest ephemera that feels straight out of a vintage postcard rack. See if you can spot the tiny dog - I love the little details!!

turned her journaling cards into a gorgeous waterfall right inside her Illustrating Bible to hold her sermon notes. She gave that retro vibe an extra kick by typing her notes directly onto the cards—seriously, I have typewriter envy—then added flags and washi to secure them to the page. A few extra bits of ephemera, some stamping, and highlights made it the perfect spot to dive deeper into Sunday’s message.

used her journaling cards as a base for the cutest ephemera clusters—perfect for writing out memory verses and displaying them on her desk. She even mixed in some of Kelly’s signature florals, and the layers just work. Don’t be afraid to bust out your stash, especially when it comes to mixing textures and pieces
for that extra pop!
